Shofar came to us with the brand name already decided, along with a creative direction for the logo — a mark built from two cocoa pods, with cocoa flowing down into the form of a chocolate block. The reference direction they brought sat close to imagery already used elsewhere in the category. Rather than replicating it directly, we developed an original interpretation within that same visual language — retaining the spirit of the concept the client wanted while arriving at a mark that was genuinely our own execution, not a copy.

Beyond the identity itself, the brand needed a packaging system that could scale across an expanding product range — starting with the core line (Milk, 75% Dark) and extending into a single-origin series (Borneo, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador). The origin naming convention itself follows standard practice already established in the specialty chocolate category; our contribution was the visual system built around it. We established three base tones — indigo, cream, and dark brown — to anchor the core identity, then extended the system for the single-origin range by layering a distinct accent color onto that same base structure for each origin (blue for Borneo, a deep red for Brazil, teal for Peru, mauve for Ecuador). This kept every pack visually part of one coherent family, while still making each origin instantly distinguishable on shelf.

 

The full identity system — logo, illustrated botanical pattern (cocoa pods, leaves, and dried fruit motifs), color architecture, and packaging — was extended across the product range, business cards, and brand collateral.
